The Association of the Glass and Ceramic Industry of the Czech Republic submits the „Annual Report – Glass and Ceramic Industry of the Czech Republic – 2010“, where we would like to inform the public about the main economic indices of the glass and ceramic industry of the Czech Republic in 2010, and also about their development in the period from 2005 till 2010. In the Annual Report you will find trends of the European and world glass industry. An integral part of this Report is also a chapter dealing with the activities of the Association of the Glass and Ceramic Industry of the Czech Republic.
It is confirmed again that the Czech glass and ceramic industry has been an export oriented branch for a long time. The active balance of foreign trade was 20.184 bill. CZK in 2010. It strengthened again the balance of foreign trade of the whole processing industry with its inter-year increase by 1.3 %.
The year 2010 was not favourable for the glass and ceramic industry of the Czech Republic at all. As well as in the last years, it faced up to the impacts of crisis and it balanced on the border of profitability. According to the last predictions of macroeconomic data development and development of foreign and inland economy, the year 2011 does not give great expectations to significant improvement. Even political reflections about the growth of energy prices as well as government´s effort to change the construction of budget incomes, cannot be forgotten.
The glass and ceramic industry very sensitively reacts to changes of economic and political development not only because of its export orientation but also because of dependence on a number of following industrial branches for which it delivers its products. For companies there is still the same necessity to search ways how to orientate to the production with a high added value, how to strengthen the innovation in the production and in the management and commercial strategies.
I believe you will find interesting and usable information in our Annual Report.
