Dear friends,


The Association of the Glass and Ceramic Industry of the Czech Republic submits the "Annual Report - Glass and Ceramic Industry of the Czech Republic - 2007", where we would like to inform the public about the main economic indices of the glass and ceramic industry of the Czech Republic in 2007, and also about trends in its development in the period from 2002 till 2007. In the separate chapter the export and import of this industry in years 2006 and 2007 are analyzed. The Report has also a chapter dealing with the activities of the Association of the Glass and Ceramic Industry of the Czech Republic.

The glass and ceramic industry is a significantly export oriented branch. With its active balance of foreign trade in amount of 31.237 bill. CZK it significantly strengthen the balance of foreign trade of the whole processing industry in the Czech Republic. For keeping this position a permanent activity and innovation policy in production and trade is necessary. The development in individual branches shows that products with the high added value won recognition more and more significantly.

All groups of the glass and ceramic industry had to face up continuously strengthening competition, increasing energy prices and strengthening course of the CZK in 2007. In 2008 and in next years the glass and ceramic industry will have to face up increasing pressure of competition. The state economical forecasts consider further and continual increase of energy prices. Also the development of the CZK course is an unknown quantity, and therefore, the glass and ceramic industry has to search ways how to orientate to the production with a high added value, how to strengthen the innovation in the production and in the management and commercial strategies.
