The Association of the Glass and Ceramic Industry of the Czech Republic in cooperation with the Ministry of Industry and Trade submit the "Annual Report - Glass and Ceramic Industry of the Czech Republic - 2001".

The aim of the submitted Annual Report is to inform the public not only on results of the glass and fine ceramic industry in 2001 and its development since 1991, but also on activities and goals of the Association and its members.

In previous years the favourable conditions on the market of the Czech Republic and on foreign markets as well, have become evident in the economy of companies in the mentioned industry. However, in 2001, especially in the end of the year, the strengthening of the Czech crown is projected in the decrease of export. In the industry, which is so significantly oriented to export, it means very noticeable losses.

The economic development, especially further strengthening of the crown in 2002 will negatively influence the economy of companies of the glass and ceramic industry and it will be for many of them a "fight for survival". In spite of this fact the glass and ceramic industry of the Czech Republic has good presumptions for further development.
